Keynote Address
The Global Economic Down Turn, Free Trade, & Outsourcing:  Implications for World Trade and Multi-National Corporations

Dr. Michael Moore, Director of the Institute for International Economic Policy, Elliot School of International Affairs, The George Washington University

Dr. Moore will discuss the implications of the global economic down turn and recent events in global trade negotiations and their impact on HR departments and HR leadership, employment practices and labour policies.  Clearly the economic environment is changing dramatically around the world.  This, combined with the collapse of the Doha Round of World Trade talks, highlights the changing landscape for multi-national companies.  If developed economies experience a recession and major governments shift from multi-lateral to bi-lateral trade relationships, coupled with the “populist” trends toward including labour and environmental standards;  then the complexity of global workforce management will be forever changed as groupings of countries have differing prevailing economic winds, trade alliances, and labor standards.  This new world order will require more agility and flexibility from both HR leadership and HR policies.

This session will include an evaluation of the economic and trade policies from multiple global perspectives and is a vital briefing for all HR leaders who manage organizations and labour forces in multiple countries.

Keynote Address
Calculating the ROI from HR Outsourcing.  Dr. Anthony Hesketh, Deputy Director Centre for Performance-Led HR, School of Management, Lancaster University

Dr. Hesketh will present ground-breaking findings from a multi-year study on the top- and bottom-line impacts of HR outsourcing among European companies and how these companies are earning greater returns on their financial and human capital.  In these findings he will present a new paradigm for assessing the performance of chief HR executives and their contributions to overall corporate performance.  This study will change the way companies look at the benefits and challenges of outsourcing.  A must for anyone looking at how to assess the business case for HR outsourcing.

1100-1200

Panel Discussion: The Invisible (H)ROI.  Moderated by John Higgins of Accenture

The traditional HR BPO business model is under stress – clients and providers alike are chasing savings and profits that keep receding into the future, and practitioners are left wondering why there’s so much pain for so little reward. What’s the point? Mr. Higgins will moderate a discussion that will explore a different kind of business case – based on measurable business outcomes – that can accelerate (H)ROI dramatically. Panelists will include Guy-Joel de Lhoneux from Unilever, Dr. Hesketh from Lancaster University, Mike Atwood of The Hackett Group, Tim Palmer from PA Consulting, and Helen Neale from NelsonHall.

The seven-year partnership uses NorthgateArinso's euHReka technology to create a single SAP-based HR Services platform.  Using the euHReka platform will allow the HR team to deliver better quality information, support faster decision-making and improve service.  The comprehensive HR outsourcing solution, to be completed in early 2010, will become the core Cadbury global HR information system and give employees online access to services.

Three of the world’s leading experts on the subject of Global Managed Services will offer a very hands-on discussion on addressing the current economy and your current, future, and idealized state of temporary labor.  When deploying thousands of contract workers each day across borders, there are many best practices that make up the best models and ways to measure success.  HR Executives work directly with Sourcing Departments in today’s largest corporations to better understand and ultimately manage this spend as it relates to quality, efficiency, risk mitigation and rates.
